‘Art in Bloom’ Seasonal Exhibit Returns to the Cincinnati Art Museum for the First Time Since 2019 | Things to do | Cincinnati
The Cincinnati Art Museum celebrates the changing seasons with the return of popular exhibit Blooming art.
Traditionally held in the fall, the 11th edition of Blooming art will take place this spring and will mark the triumphant return of the exhibition; the last Blooming art took place in 2019 and was put on hiatus due to the pandemic.
From May 13 to 15, more than 90 bouquets and floral arrangements by professional and amateur designers will be installed near the museum’s works of art. Floral creations “wwill create a dialogue between fine art and floral beauty,” the museum says in a press release, juxtaposing the color, composition and style of the arrangements with the art itself.
Doan Ly, founder and creative director of floral design studio ap bio in New York City, is the show’s featured floral designer. Four of Ly’s large floral installations will be on display throughout the museum.
“Blooming art is a beautiful and important event for the Cincinnati Museum of Art, and we are excited to bring it back for the community in 2022,” says Blooming art co-chair Cheryl Rose in a statement. “We have Doan Ly, who is internationally renowned, creating exquisite giant flower installations at the museum, as well as over 90 flower displays created by volunteers. It will be three days that all of our visitors will remember.”
Besides the exhibition, Blooming art will include activities like a family community festival on the Art Climb. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 14, the free outdoor event features live performances from a DJ and artists from the local community, a flower potting station, and food trucks.
Access to Blooming artThe indoor exhibition is charged for non-members: $12 adults, $6 senior/student/child and free for children 6 and under. Tickets will also include access to special exhibitions at the Cincinnati Museum of Art David Driskell: Icons of Nature and History and common work: the photographers of the Kamoinge studio.
