Idea Exchange welcomes new director of Cambridge Art Galleries
Idea Exchange recently announced that Alix Voz has been appointed as the new Director/Curator of Cambridge Art Galleries.
His first day in the role was July 6. Voz comes to the Cambridge Art Galleries after spending the past four years in the same role at the WKP Kennedy Gallery in North Bay.
“We are delighted to have Alix join us in Cambridge,” Idea Exchange CEO Helen Kelly said in a press release. “His enthusiasm for presenting art exhibitions that are engaging and accessible to the whole community is contagious. We look forward to many dynamic public art projects and programs under his leadership. »
Voz brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position, the statement said. She holds a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major in Art History and Fine Arts, Geography, Communication and Culture from York University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Nipissing University. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Nipissing University where she teaches art classes in the BFA program.
“I’m excited to be part of future projects and to engage with local organizations and individuals,” Voz said. “Galleries across the province and country are working to bring art exhibitions and programming back to their full potential, and Cambridge Art Galleries is also working towards that goal. Developing an understanding of the community and the history of galleries is important to me to ensure that we grow with the needs of our community in mind.
Residents will have the opportunity to meet Voz at the Fibreworks 2022 Virtual Opening Reception on Thursday, July 21 at 7 p.m. Registration for the event is mandatory.
